Christmas is coming!!!

Our children are excited. They keep reminding us in case we might forget.

Are you ready? I have discovered that no matter how prepared or unprepared I am for this sacred holiday that it comes anyway. This year's preparations have been different then the past several. For the first time in many years Hubby decided to go along with me for the shopping.....(wow, breathe, stay calm, I can do this). It was memorable.

We started November 22 with a trip to the city to pick up Smiley's goKart. He worked and saved all summer to buy one. We were simply the transportation for the prized goKart while Smiley waited at home. He was still awake at midnight when we pulled in the driveway:) He was so excited he vibrated!!!

One goKart tied down on the trailer, one husband driving in the city (breathe we can do this) and we were off to shop. We looked in the shopping plazas nearby. Good news major chain stores seem to organize their stores the same. An interesting side note here. We went to Target and after just a few minutes felt uneasy and left the store without any purchases. This week on the news we learned that Target's credit card purchases for 4,000,000 people were compromised as of Black Friday. Whew...so glad we left and I hope good things for the millions of people that will now be watching their credit card statements anxiously.

At this point it was about 5:00 pm and we hadn't bought a thing. Shopping was going to be delayed for a gorgeous wedding reception at 6:00 pm. We needed to change clothes, I can only imagine what the grocery store clerk thought we were doing when we walk in dressed in jeans and t-shirts and came out in Sunday best.  Then we got lost trying to find the reception and made it there around 6:45 pm. Good thing they didn't have people standing out front since we drove around the block at least four times attempting to park a truck and trailer. The reception was beautiful and worth the stop to visit great friends.

Now it was inching closer to 8:00 pm and we hadn't bought one Christmas gift. I will say that with a list, a budget, and a Hubby with sore feet, shopping went fast. Four stores later and we were making progress. We skipped dinner and headed home with plans for a return trip on the 27th. (I can't believe it two shopping days with Hubby, wow!)

Well November 27th came and it was time to head back to the city. It was our anniversary and we were doing something special. We met with some friends and had lunch. Friends were great and food was good. We then moved onto an appointment to meet Hubby's specialist. Might I say here, one should really add in a doctor's visit to get some bang to the day.  After that we went Christmas shopping. When people decide to get married around Thanksgiving, Christmas shopping just seems to happen. I still had my list in hand, budget on our minds and we shopped until his feet were sore:) OK that really doesn't take too long, but he was a good sport.

It was memorable to have two trips to the city,  goKart purchase, wedding reception and lunch date with friends, doctor's visit, anniversary and two whirlwind shopping trips all with Hubby.

Even with all that we are grateful we haven't forgotten the purpose for Christmas celebrations and how blessed we are as a people to enjoy the freedom to celebrate this sacred holiday, the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ.  Merry Christmas.
