Weekly wrap-up

Monday started the holiday with a trip to the after hours clinic and hospital. Smiley took a tumble down the stairs landing on the top of his head on our tiled basement floor. After an hour of deliberating on his condition and with his permission we finally got him on the way to seek medical advice. His condition was not improving at the clinic, in fact it was worsening so off to the hospital we went for CT scans of the brain and spine. The boy with a C-collar on to immobilize his neck was able to pivot his body in rapid motion to see the neighbor's shiny new red truck in their driveway as we sped by. Priorities right? A new truck (in his eyes) is worth a delay in medical care!
He continued to be sick on our one hour trip to the hospital.  CT scans showed a good size concussion and no internal bleeding or deformity of the spine. Phew... The boy was sent home with the instructions to stay down for 3 days with no mental or physical exertion for a week. Seriously, this is like hog-tieing a greasy pig!
All in all he did well with his 3 days of rest. Grandma came to insure he stayed well tucked in on the couch. The littles read stories to him and visited with him between school work.
Tuesday was a recovery day for mom. My health has taken a turn for the worse with constant anxiety and my heart has decided to do it's own little irregular rhythm. So after Monday's excitement Tuesday became a rest day for Mom and Smiley. School work was accomplished and naps were had.
Wednesday and Thursday Mom worked at the clinic and the littles were cared for by Grandma. Smiley commented that he could barely move without Grandma after him. Good job Grandma is what I have to say about that:) She also treated them to homemade cookies and York Peppermint Patties. Honestly by Thursday night the kids were thinking me working full time would be a bonus for them if Grandma kept coming with goodies.
Friday was a return to near normal. Smiley was released from "couch-a-rest" and allowed to assist Mom in hanging four amazingly cute information boards for our classroom.  Hubby was asked over Christmas break if he could build these out of scrap lumber from his previous cabinet jobs. This idea had been simmering for months and finally I used Pinterest to come up with a way to put it together.

Now all the littles have their own white/cork/magnet boards to display messages, art and school work. It took us most of the day to get them hung up nice. We learned how to use a stud finder tool so we could make sure to nail into a piece of wood. We used the metric system for measurements. And we explored the concept of "level". In the end the good old fashioned eye-balling it turned out to be as accurate as the actual tape measure. School started in the evening that day and the three littles completed in time to eat a fun supper of popcorn and fruit followed with family scripture time, prayer and bedtime.
Saturday Mom went to work. Hubby orchestrated laundry, dishes, vacuuming and carpet shampooing. Good thing Smiley was mostly recovered. He was thrilled to do some vacuuming and get some wiggles out.  After work Ladybug and Mom took off to sell Girl Scout cookies. She made her goal of 100 boxes sold in just two days, yah!! We plan to finish up tonight with showers, scriptures, prayer and hopefully an earlier bedtime.
Sunday is the day of rest, oh yes!!!
